COGNIFOG Organised the “Edge-to-Cloud Continuum Challenges and Technical Enablers” Workshop

 

The COGNIFOG consortium organised the workshop “Edge-to-Cloud Continuum Challenges and Technical Enablers with the COGNIFOG Framework” on 26 September 2025 at CEA Nano-INNOV in Palaiseau.
Co-hosted by CEA List, Thales, and Embedded France, the full-day event brought together experts from industry, academia, and open-source communities to discuss advancements and challenges across the edge-to-cloud continuum.

A Full Day of Technical Insight and Exchange

The workshop explored several key themes shaping Europe’s future distributed computing landscape, including:

  • orchestration and performance management across heterogeneous edge-cloud environments,

  • dependable and continuous AI at the edge,

  • security, privacy, and digital sovereignty, and

  • technical enablers for real-time and mission-critical applications.

Participants engaged in technical talks, interactive discussions, and demonstrations addressing the current state and future directions of edge-to-cloud infrastructures.

Showcasing the COGNIFOG Framework

A dedicated part of the programme focused on the COGNIFOG Framework, presenting its architecture, capabilities, and integration into real-world pilots. Consortium partners shared insights and demonstrations from use cases in:

  • smart manufacturing,

  • telemedicine, and

  • emergency response and crisis management.

These presentations illustrated how COGNIFOG delivers secure, adaptive, and high-performance computing across distributed environments.

Fostering European Digital Sovereignty

By bringing together stakeholders from multiple sectors, the workshop strengthened collaboration within the European edge-cloud ecosystem and reinforced the importance of digital sovereignty, interoperability, and innovation. The event also served as a platform for knowledge exchange between EU-funded initiatives and the broader technology community.
